Did you know that a resuscitation course is often (partly) reimbursed by your health insurer? Many insurers see a CPR and AED course as prevention and contribute to it. In many cases you can follow the course “for free”, or for a small amount.
How it works
The reimbursement usually comes from your supplementary insurance, not from the basic insurance. That means no deductible applies. There is usually a maximum amount per year. If the course costs less than that amount, you get the full costs back.
What do the major insurers reimburse in 2026?
| Insurer | Package | Reimbursement per year |
|---|---|---|
| Zilveren Kruis (Achmea) | Supplementary 2 stars and higher | max. € 115 |
| VGZ | Supplementary Instap / Goed / Beter / Best | max. € 75 / € 200 / € 400 / € 500 |
| CZ | Basis / Plus / Top | max. € 50 / € 100 / € 200 |
| Univé | Supplementary Goed / Beter / Best | max. € 200 / € 400 / € 500 |
| Nationale-Nederlanden | Fit Package (standard with the basic insurance) | max. € 150 |
This overview is an indication. The amount often applies to all courses or prevention combined.
Always check first
Reimbursements and conditions differ per insurer and per package. So contact your own insurer before you sign up and ask:
- Does my package reimburse a resuscitation course, and up to what amount?
- Do you accept a certificate from a NIKTA-certified training provider?
- What do I need to send in to claim?
BHV-Weesp is NIKTA-certified
Insurers often set requirements for the training provider or for the certificate you receive afterwards. BHV-Weesp is NIKTA-certified. After the course you receive an invoice and a certificate from us, which you can use to claim the costs from your insurer.
Good to know: the reimbursement is meant for private individuals. If you follow the course for your job, the insurer usually does not reimburse it and your employer normally pays.
